Abbotfinney's frontman Jeffrey Alan, is a multifaceted individual: recording artist, performer, entrepreneur, sustainable builder, and a passionate, dedicated protagonist in the struggle to raise awareness of climate change and to marshal resources to address the problem.
Jeffrey Alan is emblematic of a new generation of young adults; committed to combating the threat that climate change poses to our planet and to developing environmentally sustainable ways of living and working. These young adults across the country are demanding a change in the status quo, and insisting on a change in behavior, both from themselves, and from our leaders.
As the frontman and leader of the Seattle-based Indie Rock/Pop outfit Abbotfinney, Jeffrey Alan is using his music as a vehicle to promote environmental causes. In addition, Jeffrey is offering like-minded musicians the opportunity to link up via the new campaign he is spearheading: GlobeAid365 (www.globe365.com).
The GlobeAid365 campaign will enlist music artists, venues, and tour promoters, as well as music retailers and e-tailers, in a national effort to promote sustainable practices, increase awareness of environmental issues, and raise funds to support key environmental initiatives.
GlobeAid365's primary vehicle will be a live worldwide concert series which is set to launch in 2008 and circle the globe every year thereafter (carbon neutrally of course). Proceeds from the sale of concert tickets, CD’s, digital music downloads and ringtones, as well as corporate sponsorships and private contributions will help fund research and education programs, as well as specific initiatives, including reforestation programs and voter education.
Explains Alan, "GlobeAid365 is built on the strong ability to reach people through the ever-connected bond of music and music community and their ability to move ideas from a personal experience into front-and-center on the world's stage." “We will generate a strong grass-roots movement in the image of moveon.org." “What separates us is that we are built on a long-term commitment to sustainability." "Globeaid365 will focus on long-term relationships with environmentally conscious sponsors and media to keep the cause in the headlines.”
In 2004, a freak injury that nearly severed his right leg found Jeffrey fighting for his life in a foreign country. After recovering at a miraculous pace from this near-death experience, Jeffrey is fueling his music and cause with a renewed and even more passionate perspective on his life and dreams. “Life is so short and I am more determined and closer to my music than ever before.”
Jeffrey is no stranger to the music industry. Abbotfinney’s first self-titled release earned a place on the charts with the single, “Feeling Rather Lonely” debuting at #28 on the AC40 chart alongside Don Henley and David Gray. The Triple A format has also shown support including at WEBK, WBCG, WRLT, WRNX, KTAO, KSQY, KMTN, KRSH, WBZC and KCLC.
Abbotfinney are reputed for their powerful and captivating live performances, and have shared the stage with artists including Brandi Carlile, Maktub, Five for Fighting, Marcy Playground, The Calling, and Deep Blue Something.
This fire is the fuel behind Abbotfinneys new album, “What You're Here For” (FreeFall Music) which will be available digitally in September 2007, and In Stores Spring 2008.
